* Data from the International Respiratory Coalition (January 2025). The International Respiratory Coalition (IRC) is an alliance of respiratory specialists, patients and industry partners, whose aim is to reform respiratory care in the wake of the pandemic and to reduce global mortality from respiratory diseases by a third by 2030 – in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The IRC calls on governments and policy-makers to develop well-funded national strategies based on prevention, new models of care, ambitious and measurable targets, and accountable leadership. The aim is to improve respiratory health by focusing on:

  1. Prevention of respiratory diseases
  2. Access to the right treatment at the right time
  3. The fight against inequality
  4. The priority given to research, data and knowledge to improve care
