Thoracic Endoscopy

He contributes to the programme of the annual ‘Belgian Pneumology Days’ congress with a dedicated session and organises a biennial international symposium on the latest developments and technical innovations in the field.

He also organises an annual workshop on basic endoscopy training – Endoscopy Introduction Day – which takes place in early October. This inter-university workshop is aimed at fellows from all national universities who are beginning their training in pulmonology. All university centres take turns in organising the workshop, which is supported by the BeRS. All members of the working group (affiliated to a university or regional hospital) are welcome to participate as tutors.

The working group’s most recent scientific collaboration focuses on transbronchial lung cryobiopsy, with various members of the working group working on a registry to document national activities and outcomes.

Several members of the group collaborated on the Belgian ELVR project (BEVA), which recently led to the reimbursement of endobronchial valves for ELVR.
